Camping!

For Memorial Day weekend we went camping with our church. It was so much fun! I was a little worried about camping with Nathaniel. I was especially worried that he might get grumpy and cry a lot. But when we got there we found out that three other babies were spending the night too. Nathaniel was the youngest of the four but they all were so good.  We all set up our tents in the same corner and called it the baby corner so people knew not to pitch their tents near us if they didn't want the possibility of crying baby right next to them. But there was hardly any crying, day or night, just the occasional whining. I meant to get a picture of the four babies but I never had my camera when they were all together.

Here is our little tent that we borrowed from a family in the ward.

This a friend with Nathaniel, watching Mommy and Daddy play Kubb.

Here is Daddy playing Kubb.

Nathaniel just chillin' in the tent

Nathaniel and Daddy

His favorite parts were the campfire and the other babies. He kept staring at both. His least favorite part was trying to go to sleep for a nap with all the exciting new things around him.
It rained during the night and I was afraid it would wake him up but it was the soundest he has ever slept. He was so still I had to keep checking to reassure myself he was breathing.

Hogle Zoo!

We went to the zoo. Nathaniel was tired or asleep for most of it but the parts he was awake for he really enjoyed. His favorite parts were the Gorillas and the Sea Lions and Seals. He just kept watching them with wide eyes. Especially the animals in the water. He liked their splashing sounds, the water and their antics.
Though we don't have any pictures with those animals because Mommy was holding him.

Our friends Ashlee and Mike Willie.

Nathaniel is ready to see his first wild animal.

Look it's a real Mr. Zoo. (Zoo is Japanese for Elephant. His stuffed elephant is named Mr. Zoo and a favorite song that we sing is Zoo San. )

Everyone with the Elephant

Chris is taller than an adult Gorilla but his wing span isn't as great.

Maybe Nathaniel will be able to top the Adult males wingspan someday. He's already got the infant beat.

Bald Eagle's Nest

He was enchanted with the tortoise, or maybe he was just attracted to the light that the tortoise was under.

Lizards!

 Snakes!
(yup I'm a boy)

He was following the mongoose who was running back and forth across the window.

One of just Mommy and Daddy.

First Foods!

Today we gave Nathaniel his first "solid" food. Sweet Potatoes!!
He enjoyed them, we think. Although, he was very quiet. He seemed to be pondering the food. After eating he was very talkative. It was almost like he was telling Mommy all about Daddy feeding him sweet potatoes.

He had two bowls. One for play and one for eating.

He liked playing with the food more than the spoon.

About to get his first bite.

Here is a video of his first bites.

Some Fun

Nathaniel gets to start eating real food soon so we got out his high chair and have been letting him get used to it. It makes him look so little!

More tummy time

His swing was running out of batteries, so I ran to go get some new ones. I was only gone for a few seconds but when I got back he just looked so forlorn, you would think I had left him for hours.

I work out

This little gem is actually from a couple weeks ago but it got lost in the shuffle.
Daddy is always telling Nathaniel that he needs to work out so that he's not just big but strong. Here is one of their many workouts.

Temple Square

Nathaniel and I went to temple square in Salt Lake City with a couple of my friends yesterday.

He had quite the adventure seeing where Mommy and Daddy were married.

I kept trying to get pictures of him but it just wasn't working. At one point he even face planted into a flower bed. I wish I had a picture of him afterward because he looked so cute with his face covered in dirt but I didn't think of that until after I had cleaned him up. He did not like being dirty and kept crying till he was clean.

We got a couple good pictures and we sang one of his favorite sleep time songs a couple times:

I have a family here on Earth
They are so good to me
I want to share my life with them
Through all eternity

Families can be together forever
Through Heavenly Father's plan
I always want to be with my own family
And the Lord has shown me how I can
The Lord has shown me how I can

Laughing

It has been cold and rainy here lately, so the other night when we were going out I bundled Nathaniel up in a fleece jumper. The first thing Chris said when he saw Nathaniel was: "Look,  You're a little sea turtle!" So of course, I had to make him a shell and get a picture of Nathaniel, the sea turtle! Thanks Gigi for making a sea turtle jumper.

Also, Nathaniel gave me a wonderful Mother's Day present. He laughed for me and we got it on video! I was excited.

BYU Rugby

We went to the BYU Rugby game yesterday. It was the championship for some conference.
This is Nathaniel getting ready. I realized that neither Chris nor I have summer BYU paraphernalia, it's all long sleeved. haha

He didn't want to look up because it was sunny.

Here he is trying to figure out the game.

There they are playing.

Just so you know he was smothered in sunscreen and didn't burn anywhere. But Daddy sure did!

Daddy's Whistle

Daddy got a whistle that he is playing to get his mouth back in shape so it won't hurt as much when he plays the saxophone for me. He has been  playing the whistle almost every waking hour that he is home. I wanted to try it out too  (or maybe it just looked tasty).

Camera Face

I've been talking about how Nathaniel has a camera face. Well now I have proof that it really only happens when he notices the camera.
Both of these videos show how Nathaniel will stop the face he is making or whatever he is doing to stare at the camera.

In this one I was trying to film without Chris knowing but Nathaniel gave me away.
