Playtime!

We Moved!

First a little picture from before we moved. Nathaniel's favorite way to sit with Daddy on the couch.

Nathaniel loves moving boxes but he hates packing tape! Every time we taped a box he would start screaming and we would have to stop and calm him down. He was so scared of the noise.

Caught Nathaniel red-handed.

He's going to fly away in his box

Chris has been reading this blog called the Art of Manliness. He loves it. One of the posts was a diet that is supposed to help you gain muscle (when combined with working out). Chris has decided this is his goal at the new place. This is the Man Breakfast.

Nathaniel just loves sitting in his high chair watching Mommy and Daddy make messes. It's going to get a lot messier before it gets cleaner!

Nathaniel has already made some friends here in Idaho. This is Krissi. I'm going to be babysitting her and her older brother 4 days a week, 10 hours a day for the next 4 months. Nathaniel just loves hanging out with her. They share toys really well too.....or more accurately, if Krissi wants it, Nathaniel will let her have it. I don't know whether to be proud he is so good at sharing or tell him not to let girls walk all over him. haha

Tune in next week for pictures of the finished house. We've just got 2 more boxes and then putting up decorations!

Nathaniel is Army Crawling

He did 3 scoots two days ago but they were at separate times and he wouldn't do them anymore. Then all of a sudden last night he just decided it was time to get moving!

First "Real" Meal

So tonight we fed Nathaniel what I call his first real meal. It was still pureed but it was chicken, carrots and rice. He really enjoyed it. It was also the thickest consistency he has ever eaten.

Video Time

Here are some videos. The first is Nathaniel as a burrito. The second is when he was unhappy so we got him ready to take a shower and suddenly he was happy. He really loves the water.

Nerf Gun Fun

Hiking in Moab

We went hiking in Moab with my family. Chris carried Nathaniel and I carried all the water and food. Nathaniel started with a hat but it was too small (we only bought it 2 months ago and it was too big then). We slathered his bald head with sunscreen.

Chris stopped to watch the shadows move.

We found bird tracks. They are a lot smaller than Chris tracks.

Nathaniel fell asleep about half way through. He made Chris' neck hurt by the end because he laid his head just so that Chris had to crane his neck.

Happy baby! He was excited to not be in his carseat. We were waiting for Daddy to finish a more intense hike.

Lots of laundry from the trip.

6 Months

Some of my favorite things:

Mirrors

Books!

Boxes

Outside

My 6 Month Check-up:

Nope that isn't the doctor, just a dinosaur.

He didn't know what was coming..

He thought she was so nice...
And then WHAM! shots. He didn't cry for as long this time. He was fairly happy pretty quickly. : )

The Hoarder

Nathaniel has recently started hoarding things in his high chair. A typical time in the high chair goes like this. Mommy gives him a toy and starts doing dishes. A couple minutes in Nathaniel starts crying because his toy is gone. So Mommy, not immediately seeing his toy on the ground, grabs the next nearest toy. He plays for another couple minutes and then cry's again. Again Mommy doesn't see the toy so she grabs another because she is in the middle of something. He plays for another couple minutes, and you get the pattern. When Mommy finishes and takes him out, there are a whole bunch of toys next to him in his seat and he is one happy camper. These are pictures from the first time he did it. He gathered an egg, a rattle, beads and play-doh.

Mommy has finally gotten smart and gives him things too big to put next to him, like squash!

Here is a picture of Nathaniel meeting his second cousins Sammy and Jack for the first time. He had great fun with them!

Just a cute sleeping picture. He is also getting too big for his bouncer but he really loves it.

Steam Fest AKA the Adventures of the Mustard Rose

Captain Invictus, Miss Mustard, and Dr. Nathaniel embarked upon their ship, Mustard Rose, bound for the northern bazaar of the bizarre, otherwise known as Salt City Steamfest. Wearing their best, or rather, the best they could after months at sail and little port time, they headed north, for adventures they could scarcely imagine. . .

So, we went to another convention! This one was steampunk-based, which is a genre of fantasy/sci-fi fiction that operates on the premise that electricity either never worked or never really took off, but that the world continued to advance using steam-powered, clockwork, or other primitive combustion engines. The style of dress is somewhat Victorian English, a little Wild West, and a lot of imagination. And gears. Lots of gears. Kylie made me a vest to wear with goggles and a cap, and I was originally going to be a mechanic, but when my outfit was completed, I just felt more like an adventurer. Thus, Captain Invictus of the airship Mustard Rose was thought into being. His dear love, Miss Mustard (Kylie, wearing her papier-mache hat), accompanied him, and they brought along poor Dr. Nathaniel, who had an unfortunate reverse-aging accident with his potions. We made these characters on the drive up to Salt Lake City, and we had a blast! Everybody adored Nathaniel, and we kept hearing how dapper he looked. Dapper was the word of the day. He got pictures taken by and with nearly everyone, including a steampunk Boba Fett and numerous corseted women (corsets being the "punk" part of steam punk, I suppose). There was a ton of creativity there, and we just loved being our little airship crew family. All in all, and as I said before, we had a blast! Kylie's pictures and captions now follow:

Gun that we took but didn't have a holster so we never used it.

I also made Chris's vest and my skirt.

Nathaniel really liked the musicians there. He couldn't take his eyes off them.
